Gearing up for a great season

2012 is well underway and dates are swirling. My first shows this year will be Lotus in Grand Rapids on 2/15 and Umphrey's McGee in Detroit on 2/18. Expect a few pictures and maybe a clip or two from each show.

I have been getting prepared for what is guaranteed to be a great year of music. On the punlive agenda thus far is:

Summercamp Music Festival
Dave Matthews Band @ Deer Creek (Noblesville, In) on 6/22 - 6/23
Electric Forest Festival
Dave Matthews Band @ DTE Energy 7/10
Allgood Music Festival
Hoxeyville Music Festival

Punlive.net will be adapting and adjusting it's focus this year. I will be releasing a lot less RAW content of any bigger shows. Expect most of the Ipod style video to be of local bar scene music and a lot less from the festival scene. My new intention is to capture quality footage with the use of a new DSLR. I want to start taking this footage and applying vigorous editing and ideas to hopefully come out with some really higher quality content this year.

I want to start connecting directly with artists to help incorporate our skills into what can really help benefit both Punlive.net and the artists. I don't want to just rogue shoot every show I see with hopes that it will be ok to release.

Moving forward from last year, covering festivals in a lot more detail will be a major focus. I want to really start filming crowd reactions and interact directly with fans. I want to be able to convey the love and energy that people have at these events. If I can bring even a shred of what I have experienced back home to share with others, then I am happy to be doing it.

I also want to get a grasp on all the talent in lower Michigan. There is a lot of good bands working very hard to make something of themselves out there. Expect quite a bit of new music to start hitting the youtube channel . I am connecting with organizers of shows and event's to start frequenting some local talent.

I am just itching to do more for my fans and to get some updates rolling. Make sure you are checking out our Facebook page and other social pages as well. I update those pages weekly, while only updating the blog periodically.

Thanks for all the support,
Pun

Why 2011 was epic for me

First and foremost, I have had the craziest year of music ever! Having the opportunity to do 3 different festivals has been great. Before all of this I had only been to Rothbury 2008 and 2009. It is my festival home and I love to be there more than anything else in the world.

In June 2010, my mother died and I missed a lot of live music I was planning to attend including Bonnaroo and Cheese at Horning's. It was a terrible year for me and with no Rothbury to keep me standing it just felt out of place. I was determined to make up for it in 2011 and I did by far! First of all, I must have been getting some great karma from Cheezus because in April just shortly after the announcement of Electric Forest, I got hooked up PHAT and got a Media Pass to the festival. It enabled to feel like I actually deserved to be a part of what is my favorite place on earth by giving something back to everyone! I had never felt so honored, almost feeling undeserving. One thing I did know was I wanted to do my best.

Before the VIP treatment at Electric Forest, I went as a normal festy to Summercamp Music Festival. I had an awesome time. It was my first festival outside of Rothbury, MI.  It was my first opportunity to meet a lot of my festival family for the first time and I am so grateful to have all of them in my life. Each and every person I have met is amazing. It all started with Infobury and we have now become one huge entity of awesome that expands much farther than a message board!

I somehow had even more good fortune and managed a MEDIA PASS to Hoxeyville music festival too. I got to do my first ever artist interviews and I learned so much. I did my best to give something back and punlive.net is what I have done thus far. I have no intentions of stopping. Even without media passes and superstardom in 2012, I am determined to continue covering music. My next investment is a real camera. I am going to start making many more edited videos and hopefully be able to make some that actually look more professional next year. I know everything thus far is pretty amateur looking but I kinda like my feel :) I think we took the festival scene by storm this year. High definition smart-phones have not been out that long and I think it is surprising how much footage is being released online. In just minutes after shows you can find quality footage online. It's amazing and I love being a part of it. I love all of you, and I can't wait for next year! ~ Pun
